Can it work by itself
No, it can not work by itself. If the skeleton does not have the cartilage, tendones or muscles to hold it together. Imagine that you have no skin, then look at the sholder and the humerus bones. If you did not have the muscles to hold the humerus to the sholder it would just fall off. If the leg and the arm joints did not have the muscles to hold them together the same thing would happen. The same thing would happen to all of the joints.
what would happen?
If you did not have your skeleton, you would fall in a heap. But if by some chance you still stand up, your chest would cave in on all of the organs. But if by some chance that you are still standing up and your body does not cave in, you would not be able to move.
